A car crashed into a utility pole on Veterans Memorial Highway from Discovery Boulevard to River View Road in Mableton. That portion of Veterans Memorial Highway has been closed in both directions.
The crash knocked the pole and wires into the roadway, and Georgia Power is on the scene, said Officer Mike Bowman, spokesman for the Cobb Police Department.
The electricity company reported that it would be about six to eight hours before it could replace the pole and repair the down wires. Until then, the roads in the area will be closed.
Bowman said there were minor injuries as a result of the crash, but no one was seriously hurt.
