Welcome to another edition of “Visions for Vacancies,” where we visit a local vacant commercial building and ask you what you’d like to see go in that space.
Today, we’re at the former Peachtree Circle Shell located at the corner of Peachtree Street and Peachtree Circle, at the edge of Ansley Park. For many years, this station was the only place to gas up in north Midtown and was very popular and convenient for area residents.
But that changed last year when Dewberry Capital, which purchased the half-acre parcel at 1521 Peachtree St. in the fall of 2008, locked the doors and had the pumps removed. John Dewberry’s real estate firm owns the adjacent property, a 1.2-acre site at 1535 Peachtree St., as they both are key holdings in the former Georgia Tech quarterback’s plans to create an ‘Uptown’ district in North Midtown.
