The 3rd Infantry Division’s headquarters battalion cased its colors at a ceremony Wednesday in preparation for the unit’s upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
Rain moved the event indoors but didn’t dampen the ceremony, a longstanding army tradition. The colors, the symbol of 3rd ID, will remain cased until the unit arrives in Afghanistan.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, who attended Wednesday’s ceremony, said Fort Stewart and other army bases were integral parts of Georgia culture.
