A man who barricaded himself inside a restaurant in Savannah last week and an alleged accomplice were arraigned Friday on charges ranging from a traffic offense to kidnapping, according to the Associated Press. The two allegedly colluded in a botched kidnapping attempt that resulted in a three-hour standoff with police in Savannah’s historic district.
Kevin Dale Brooks, 26, and Brian Jones, 23, were arraigned Friday. Brooks was charged with kidnapping, armed robbery, drug possession and aggravated assault on a police officer. Jones was charged with burglary, armed robbery, false imprisonment and a traffic offense.
According to the AP, plainclothes police officer Trina Mayes was outside a coffee shop at about 8 a.m. Thursday when a silver Jaguar hopped the curb and the driver, 60-year-old Earl Hamilton, leaped out, yelling that he’d been kidnapped. Brooks, in the car’s passenger seat,
