Twiggs County and the city of Butler have received financing through the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority for water and sewer system improvements, according to a GEFA news release.

Butler was approved for two loans, a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan of $488,000 for replacing water meters and water service lines, and a Georgia Fund loan of $225,000 for rehabilitating 3,300 feet of sewer lines.

Twiggs County was approved for a Georgia Fund loan of $759,000 for sewer system storage tanks and a land application system for sewage. The total project cost is $1,220,800 with the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration providing a grant of $461,467, for which GEFA will provide temporary financing until completion of the project.
