Longtime Villagers remember the old East Atlanta Key shop, the little outpost of a building on Flat Shoals Avenue, just north of the Stokeswood Avenue intersection.
The key shop closed long ago.
At one point, the now-defunct Inman Park Properties had plans to turn it into a hot dog joint akin to Gray’s Papaya in New York.
Those plans never came to fruition but the building has received plenty of attention in the last few months as its transformed into a gallery of sorts.
At night, the gold-painted building is lit up with the visage of Albert Einstein emanating from the front. Little by little, the asphalt it sits on is giving way to one man’s creative vision.
Saturday night, we happened upon that man — C a r l — who was hosting a supermoon gathering at the building, which he renamed the Secret Spot.
