The quick-serve restaurant SONIC has added Sweet Potato Tots on its menu for a limited time.
Does this sound like a good idea? Or are you a purist only wanting your tots made from white potatoes.
According to data from the USDA Economic Research Service, U.S. per capita consumption of sweet potatoes has been on the rise, even as white potato consumption has slowed.
“Everyone is talking about sweet potatoes as a trend but few are putting unique offerings on their menus,” said Clas Petersson, SONIC’s vice president of product packaging.
