Under a new strategy that the U.S. Postal Service unveiled on Wednesday, the Nelson Post Office in rural Cherokee will remain open, but reduce its operating hours from eight to four hours.
After nationwide public opposition, the nearly bankrupt U.S. Postal Service backed off plans to shutter thousands of the country’s rural post offices, according to the Associated Press.
