Crews working on fiber optic lines on Roswell Road, Wednesday afternoon, may have pulled a gas line loose from the service main, according to Sandy Springs Deputy Fire Rescue Chief Jeff Scarbrough.
“We don’t know. Pretty much it’s an Atlanta Gas Light operation,” he said. “We’re here to assist.”
The smell of gas hung in the air on Wednesday afternoon as Fire Rescue evacuated a small office building nearby.
“What you don’t want is the gas to find a low point and settle. That’s when you have an explosion. So the wind is a good thing.”
Traffic was stopped northbound on Roswell Road just past Quik Trip and before Pitts Road.
