Memorial Day Fire Results in Moderate Damage – Barrow Patch
Barrow County Emergency Services responded to a call reporting smoke at the Harrison Poultry facility in Bethlehem at 1:52 p.m. on Memorial Day. Firefighters on the scene reported heavy black smoke in the middle of the building and fire showing on the roof.
The fire spread through an interior wall and vented out through the roof. Firefighters along with Harrison Poultry staff worked together to determine exactly where the fire was located and to what areas it could potentially spread. After extinguishing the fire, crews continued to work, ventilating smoke from the building.
The facility was moderately damaged in the fire however the Harrison Poultry staff was able to resume work on Monday. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
