American Red Cross volunteers from our area are also preparing to help deal with Hurricane Isaac.

The Southeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross is sending 10 people to help with storm relief in Louisiana.

Georgia’s Red Cross has already sent 11 supply trucks over the course of the last week. More than two dozen Georgians have deployed to neighboring states.

Ten volunteers from the Savannah chapter will be flying to Texas early Wednesday morning. They’ll travel to Red Cross shelters in Louisiana to assist with operations.

Some volunteers are going for the first time. Those who have been before are sympathetic to this storm coming so close to the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
