A recount requested by current Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau has confirmed his loss.
Beaudreau requested the recount after the Aug. 21 runoff totals showed him trailing challenger Tommy Hunter by 56 votes.
The recount was completed Aug. 28 at about 6:15 p.m. The results showed Hunter has defeated Beaudreau by a slightly larger margin than originally reported — 57 votes.
The Hunter camp announced the total with a post on the Elect Tommy Hunter Facebook page: ”Recount is complete. Official results stand. We win by 57 votes–again!”
The totals as shown on the Georgia Secretary of State website are:
- Mike Beaudreau (I) 4,523 - 49.69 percent
- Tommy Hunter 4,580 - 50.31 percent
Hunter will take office in January.
