A man was shot dead Thursday afternoon in Grant Park, Atlanta police said.
Police have no suspects in the shooting on Grant Park Place and Hill Street, where the victim was found with what is believed to be a gunshot wound to the chest in the incident, which occurred around 4 p.m.
“Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” APD spokesman John Chafee said.
The victim’s name was not released, but Fox 5 Atlanta reported he was a neighborhood resident and in his 50s.
Though no eyewitnesses have come forward so far, several people reported hearing at least one gunshot and saw three males running from the area, Chafee said.
It’s unclear why they ran.
“We’re trying to determine if those people were fleeing from the gunshot that they heard, or if they were involved,” APD’s Lt. Paul Guerrucci, told Fox 5.
