Paulding County’s unemployment rate remained 8.4 percent in March, according to preliminary figures announced today by the Georgia Department of Labor.

That matched the February jobless rate for Paulding residents, which was revised down from a preliminary rate of 8.5 percent, and was better than January’s 8.6 percent and the 9.3 percent of March 2011.

The long-term gains paralleled wider trends:

  • For the 15 counties covered by the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, the jobless rate dropped to 9.1 percent in March from 9.6 percent in February and 10.1 percent in March 2011.
  • For the 28-county metro Atlanta area, the preliminary March unemployment rate was 8.7 percent, down from a revised 9 percent in February and 9.6 percent in March 2011.
