Olympic wrestling has not been prominently broadcast but the event started last weekend and Sandy Springs coach Stacey Davis is one of two mat officials from the United States.
Wrestling continued today with the men’s 55kg freestyle.
Davis is a wrestling coach at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. Before he left for London, Davis told Patch that his selection as a wrestling official was a dream come true and he will have plenty of inspiring experiences to share with students when he returns.
“I will be around athletes and coaches from all over the world,” said Davis, two weeks ago. “They are the best at what they do. I will tell the guys [when I get back to school] that what we do is very similar.”
Like swimming, wrestling is a sport in which the athlete must rely on his or her own abilities.
