Domestic dispute leads to shooting by officer
A man was shot June 28 by a DeKalb County Police officer responding to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex.
Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said officers responded to a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the Bryton Hill Apartments located off Skyland Drive near Clairmont Road.
“Once inside the apartment the subject appeared with a weapon initially pointed at his head and the officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect,” Parish said.
Parish said the suspect subsequently pointed the weapon at the officers and one of them discharged his weapon “striking the subject multiple times.”
Parish said the suspect is in critical condition and the officer has been placed on administrative leave as a matter of procedure.
