Wells Fargo’s West End bank location was the site of an unveiling of a new mural celebrating the contributions of Atlanta’s African-American colleges and universities.
The event was held Friday morning, and coincided with the announcment of a new business fund that is designed to create jobs and small businesses in the African-American community.
The fund is getting its start with a $145,000 gift from Wells Fargo to the non-profit Opportunity Funding Corporation. Wells Fargo said that money from the fund, which the is expected to grow with more private gifts, will go to promising new businesses coming out of an annual business plan competition among historically black colleges and universities that the Opportunity Funding Corporation holds every year in Atlanta.
