I read the novel when my husband was deployed on his tour. In my hopeless romantic stupor, pining for my husband, this book worked for me. It was a quick read and surely touched my heart. What woman doesn’t doesn’t enjoy reading about a masculine man who exhibits a touch of vulnerability? When I discovered the book was coming to life I was thrilled. Sparks’ writing makes one want to see it unfold in front of your eyes. I went off to see the movie on my own, I felt an intimate connection with the story and wanted the special moment to be mine alone.
