U.S. News World Report issued its annual ranking of the nation’s best high schools.
With the exception of Grady High School, all the other high schools that serve children from the neighborhoods that comprise East Atlanta Patch, did not rank very well, based on teacher/student ratio, college readiness and average proficiency in math and English.
The best school in the state, the magazine said, is Savannah Arts Academy in Savannah. The best school in the nation is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas.
Here’s how the magazine ranked schools that serve East Atlanta Patch communities:
*Crim is an alternative high school for children who need a different learning structure from traditional education.
**McNair is in the DeKalb County Public School System
^Tech is a public charter school in Atlanta Public Schools
