Macon-Bibb firefighters battled large fires in wooded areas Tuesday night, including a remote area off N. Franklinton Road that spanned about 20 acres, according to 911 dispatch.

The fires have been extinguished, according to 911.

At 5:41 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to battle the fire in the wooded area off N. Franklinton Road. The Georgia Forestry Commission assisted by cutting a fire break around it to keep it from spreading, Macon-Bibb fire Capt. Ricky Blair said.

The cause of the fire was not known, though dry conditions likely were a factor, Blair said.

At 8:49 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to a wooded area off Orange Drive. An old shed was engulfed and the woods around it caught on fire, Blair said.

A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene, Blair said.
