The state of Colorado will vote in November whether or not to legalize marijuana for recreational use. It is already legal for medicinal use.
The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol has used billboards and other types of advertising to promote their message, according to a report by CNN. The marketing campaign aims to “break down the stereotype about who the typical marijuana user is,” explained the campaign’s co-director, Mason Tvert to CNN.
“Most of them are professional, hard-working people,” he said.
The billboards, radio and TV ads feature people from different walks of life discussing why they smoke marijuana and how it is a better choice than alcohol.
But is it?
Opponents of the measure debate whether the revenue raised by legalizing and taxing marijuana would really have much of an economic impact. Others question if there would be enough regulation and oversight to prevent it from becoming abused or readily available to minors.
If using marijuana for recreational purposes becomes legal in Colorado, the vote will more than likely come to the rest of the states as well.
