It’s no secret that companies are using Facebook and social media to see what potential and current employees are posting online.
But recently some employers are taking that a step further.
Just seeing your Facebook profile may no longer be enough for that employer who is considering your job application. Reports surfaced recently about employers demanding applicants’ Facebook passwords.
It’s raising eyebrows and legal questions, especially over the past few weeks as privacy advocates, lawmakers, and even Facebook itself have voiced opposition to this practice.
“If you were to ask me for my Facebook password, that’s like asking for the keys to my house. That just feels a little off limits to me,” said Hal Thomas, a content manager for BFG Communications.
