The suspect in this morning’s hit-and-run accident on Interstate 575 has been arrested, the spokeswoman for the Woodstock Police Department said this afternoon.
Kenneth Gonzalez, 53, of Canton was captured at 1:50 p.m. in Cobb County, just four hours after a gray 2006 GMC Sierra struck a construction worker and fled the scene, spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.
The unidentified construction worker is being treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where he is listed in critical condition.

Duncan said she was not releasing any other information about him at this time.
Gonzalez is in custody at the Cobb County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence, she said.
“Woodstock Police Investigators will secure warrants for his arrest with pending charges related to the hit and run,” Duncan said.
Today wasn’t the first time that Gonzalez was arrested on alcohol-related charges.
