At least 15 people died across the state over the Memorial Day weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety .
The fatalities reported by the following law enforcement agencies include, three from Cobb County Police, one from Gwinnett County Police, two from Columbus Police, one from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and two from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
The following fatalities were reported by the following Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Posts: one from GSP Lafayette, one from GSP Toccoa, one from GSP Athens, one from GSP Dublin, one from GSP Helena and one from GSP Douglas.
The 78-hour travel weekend began on Friday, May 25 at 6 p.m. and ended on Monday, May 28 at midnight.
Last year during the Memorial Day holiday period across Georgia, there were 19 fatalities, 1,848 crashes and 749 injuries.
