The Pinewood Tippling Room created a stir for Decatur foodies simply because of its location — in the old Cakes Ale space on West Ponce.

The excitement grew as the concept for the PWTR was revealed. It’s a Southern gastropub with a menu designed by Julia Leroy, who is also chef de cuisine for the new Watershed in Buckhead.

The Pinewood opened to the public Tuesday night for the first time and the early reviews are good. As the Eater website said,
