Editor’s Note: The following is a news release issued by the Princeton chapter of the English Speaking Union.
On Sunday, May 13, Helen Goddard will present a program entitled “A Sense of Place: Some Commonwealth Landscapes and Their Geography.”
The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 54 countries, most of which are former members of the British Empire. These countries vary dramatically in terms of size, location, population, economy, and topography. Ms. Goddard will speak about this variety, examining landscapes by noted artists to see what they can tell us about these far-flung nations.
A native of England, Ms. Goddard taught the equivalent of high school geography there for many years. Since moving to Princeton, she has taught courses on geography for The Evergreen Forum, which is sponsored by the Princeton Senior Resource Center.
The program will be given at 3 p.m. at the Kirby Arts Center
