Fort Stewart MWR and the Army’s STRONG B.A.N.D.S. campaign held a Kids Run Saturday to promote soldier and family fitness. B.A.N.D.S., which stands for Balance, Activity, Nutrition, Determination and Strength, is a campaign created last year to encourage the Army community to live a healthy lifestyle as well as fight childhood obesity. Each garrison is holding some physical activity event during the month of May, which is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.
Colonel Kevin W. Milton was there and gave a brief pep talk before he joined the crowd to run. The age groups were divided into 9-13 year olds, 7-8 year olds, and 5-6 year olds. The 9-13 group started out first on their 2-mile journey, then the 7-8 group started shortly after running a 1-mile course.
