Formally known as “Shake at the Lake,” the renamed “Shakespeare in the Park” returns to Piedmont Park this week with a five-night run of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.”
Presented by Georgia Shakespeare, the play will run May 9-13 at a new location, Legacy Fountain. It will begin nightly at 7:30 p.m. with picnicking before and during the performances.
Shakespeare’s final play and most beloved romance, The Tempest follows Prospera as she is exiled to a remote island. After shipwrecking her enemies on her island prison by conjuring a great tempest with her magic, Prospera manipulates her fellow islanders to weave a story of revenge, retribution and reconciliation that will leave you spellbound. This production features Associate Artists Carolyn Cook as Prospera, Chris Kayser as the fairy Ariel, and Neal A. Ghant as Caliban.
Reserved seating cost $20 for a reserved chair, or $10
