It was over almost as soon as it began.
Last Wednesday, city officials sent out a newsletter asking for comments on new wayfinding signs they were proposing. Tuesday night, a press release was sent out pulling the plug on the project indefinitely.
“The city will go back to the drawing board to work on alternate designs and plans that more closely match community expectations,” according to the city’s press release. “No timetable has been set for the redesign and implementation of the city wayfinding and sign program.”
The project was met with opposition almost as soon as the public got a peek at it.
Much of the criticism surrounded the signs use of the Dunwoody branding effort that was unveiled in 2010 to mixed reviews. The signs incorporated what people have described as a corporate-like font and trendy colors that didn’t match the city’s feel.
