Rep. Doug McKillip has introduced a bill into the Georgia House which seems destined to become law.
it will severely restrict the ability of women, conferring with physicians, to terminate a pregnancy after 20 weeks of gestation–even if it’s medically merciful to do so.
Say a fetus’s lungs haven’t developed properly and it’s apparent that it will live just briefly after birth. No matter, according to McKillip. The woman must carry the baby to term.
Jay Bookman, a longtime editorial writer and columnist with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, observed the machinations involved in getting House Bill 654 into law.
