A suspect involved in a domestic dispute was shot by a DeKalb County Police officer on April 22, according to a police statement.
According to police spokeswoman Mekka Parish, an officer responded to a domestic call at 1945 Brannon Road at 4:30 p.m. and discovered a woman who allegedly had been physically assaulted by a man.
The suspect left before the officer’s arrival, Parish said. Responding officers chased the suspect along a wooded area, but lost sight of him.
While the officer was en route to the magistrate court, police received a call about a suspicious person near Sugar Creek. When additional officers responded to 1965 Sugar Creek Place, they confirmed that the suspicious person was the suspect involved in the domestic incident.
The suspect, who was located on the rear patio of the residence, refused to comply with verbal commands, Parish stated.
