The first round of the Dogwood Invitational at Druid Hills Golf Club kicked off Wednesday morning with 87 amateur golfers ready to take on one of Georgia’s historic courses.
Players include many Georgia Tech, Georgia and Georgia State athletes including Anders Albertson (Tech), Bo Andrews (Tech), Alan Fowler (Georgia State), T.J. Mitchell (Georgia) and Keith Mitchell (Georgia).
The popular amateur tournament is ranked as the 13th amateur golf tournament in the nation.
Druid Hills Gold Course was originally designed in 1909 by Englishman H.H. Barker. In 2003, the 18-hole, Par 72 course was renovated by renowned golf architect Bob Cupp, bringing back its “golden era” design.
The tournament runs through Saturday, June 30.
