A DeKalb County Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church, 4680 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur.
Homeowners facing foreclosure or having difficulty making monthly mortgage payments will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with their mortgage companies or a HUD-approved housing counseling agency. Homeowners experiencing financial hardships will be provided with resources available to prevent foreclosure.
Participating servicers include:
- Wells Fargo Co.
- Bank of America Corp.
- JP Morgan Chase Co.
- General Motors Acceptance Corp.
HomeSafe Georgia will be on-hand to offer mortgage payment assistance to qualified homeowners.
The HomeSafe Georgia program is designed to help unemployed homeowners make their mortgage payments.
The program, administered through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, has been available for about 1½ years.
But as 11alive.com reported earlier this year, consumers who could have benefited
