Decatur residents can now take advantage of a new public safety feature: Smart911.
Smart911 allows residents to put vital information about themselves — such as medications taken and medical conditions — into a database. That information may become crucial during an emergency.
The website 9-1-1magazine.com says Sandy Springs was the first city in Georgia to install Smart911. It’s also being offered by Dunwoody and Johns Creek.
The City of Decatur recently provided information about the database, saying
Decatur has implemented the national safety database Smart911 to improve 911 services for residents and business owners.
Smart911 allows residents to create a safety profile of vital personal and household data, including household members, photos, medications or medical conditions and even pets, which will be displayed to 911 call takers immediately when a resident places an emergency call.
