I also recall that during the erstwhile huge “snow event” a couple of years back, Decatur, Avondale Estates, the City of Atlanta and the metro area in general got caught without supplies of sand and salt to deal with it. Why? Because the expense and fuel expenditure invovled in hauling it in, dumping it and stockpiling the sand was deemed not worthwhile. Yet annually it is deemed worthwhile to haul massive amounts of sand into down-town Decatur so that folks can pretend they are hanging out on a sandy beach. There was considerable loss of property due to accidents on the icy roads and even some lives durning the winter storm event for lack of sand and salt. But for a frivolous fundraiser, the money seems to be readily available and without question.
Is there something wrong with this
