Cross Keys High School’s manufacturing center is ground zero for a unique engineering project.
The DeKalb County Engineering Team is building a solar car to participate in the Solar Challenge 2012.
The project is part of the Georgia Institute of Technology SolarJackets, which will be the first collegiate team from Georgia to build and compete in a solar car race of their own.
The DeKalb team is providing extra hands for the more labor-intensive phases of production, while high schoolers get a chance to work with graduate and undergraduate engineering students.
To economize, the team is scrounging as many parts as possible as in-kind donations. In the spirit of Johnny Cash’s “One Piece at a Time,” donors can help with the project by locating any of these items. The Cross Keys Foundation is helping secure donations
