The year to date statistics of car thefts in our area (Zone 4) shows a steep decline in the number of automobile larcenies. The decline of 29% is the 2nd largest decrease across the metro area, according to the report provided by the Atlanta Police Department.
In contrast, the number of vehicle thefts this year in Zone 4 compared to the same period of time last year has increased nearly 7.5%.
Citywide, auto thefts rose by 4.48%, while vehicle larcenies actually went down by 3.42%.
While you can’t prevent all auto thefts or break-ins, APD says you can minimize the risk of making your vehicle an attractive target.
The department has been pushing its “Clean Car Campaign” for several months now and advises that you sweep your vehicles of anything that might make it tempting to break into it:
- Remove GPS and mounts
- Remove mobile phones
- Remove laptops and
