Bartow County will save hundreds of thousands of dollars after County Commissioner Clarence Brown approved the refinancing of two bonds during his meeting Wednesday morning. The 2012 Cartersville Building Authority Bonds, which relate to the Highland 75 Industrial Park, will be refinanced from a rate of 4.07 percent down to 1.95 percent.
The lower interest rate will save the county $735,000, as a conservative estimate, with maximum savings projected at $1.17 million.
When informed of possible savings, Brown said, “It sounds better all the time.”
Refinancing the 2012 Water and Sewer Bonds saved the county $560,000. The extra funds will go into the water and sewer line relocation project along Old Alabama Road.
Brown also authorized an agreement between the County, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and the Bartow County Board of Education allowing the installation of cameras on county school buses.
