Cobb County firefighters will be at businesses throughout the county today, May 11 and May 18—the first three Fridays of the month—for the Give Burns the Boot annual fundraiser.
They’re collecting money for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and a camp for children with burn injuries.
Each station will decide where to go, Cobb County Fire Emergency Services spokeswoman Denell Boyd said, so there isn’t a fixed list of locations. But firefighters typically go to places like Kroger and Home Depot, she added.
One definite collection point is Town Center mall, Boyd said.
The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation works to educate the public in burn awareness and prevention and supports the Burn Center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta.
In the past nine years, the foundation has awarded more than $185,000
