The Johns Creek City Council on Monday recognized Malcolm Barnard, a student at Johns Creek High School, for his work in getting the city designated an official Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

Barnard has been working on the project since he attended Autrey Mill Middle School, along with his Wildlife Habitat team.

Johns Creek is only the second city in Georgia to receive the designation, and the first in North Fulton. So far, more than 200 homes, all of Johns Creek’s schools and various community sites have earned the designation.
