The Westminster Wildcats boys’ tennis team secured their second championship in 13 years Friday with a 3-1 win over old rival Blessed Trinity of Roswell at Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro.
The two Region 6-AA foes met for the state championship for the fourth straight season, the Northside Neighbor reported.
According to Westminster’s website, the Westminster varistiy boys’ team ends their triumphant season with a 20-4 record.
The Westminster girls’ team returned to the state final as well, also going up against Blessed Trinity but were ultimately bested 3-2. This loss represented the first time the Lady Wildcats dropped an individual match during the state playoffs.
The Lady Wildcats beat Pierce County 3-0 in the semifinals before falling to Blessed Trinity, which won its fourth straight title.
