The Buckhead Coalition is reporting a good deal of success in its program to attract more Atlanta police officers to live in the community.

Less than a year into the program, according to the Reporter Newspapers, eight officers have taken advantage of a $3,000 grant to live in Buckhead. The grant includes $2,000 from the coalition and $1,000 from the Atlanta Police Foundation.

The organization has stated it believes the presence of officers living in the community will reduce crime.

BuckheadView is reporting that Coalition President Sam Massell has extended the program. Originally, the organization budgeted for 10 officers, and now has added money for two more.
