For Buckhead Chef Linton Hopkins, the fifth time is the charm. Hopkins and Hugh Acheson of Five and Ten in Athens tied for the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast, which was announced on Monday night.
Hopkins, who owns Restaurant Eugene and Holeman Finch Public House, told Patch recently that being a five time nominee of what is considered the “Oscars of food” was already a reward in itself.
“I like that I’m still getting nominated and still relevant in my category of top chef in the region,” he said.
Hopkins and Acheson won in the category that includes chefs in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. While the award is the first for Hopkins, Acheson has received the award once before.
The Beard Awards were presented at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.
