Two brazen crimes — an armed carjacking and a strong-arm purse snatching of woman in her driveway — left Ormewood Park on edge in recent weeks.

In both cases, police have focused their investigations on suspects they believe are behind the two crimes.

“We have made significant progress in both of the investigations that we have,” said Maj. Keith Meadows, commander of the Atlanta Police Department’s Zone 6.

Speaking to a meeting of the South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development, he said the investigations are in the process of setting up line-ups of those suspects to see if the victims can identify them.

SAND is an umbrella group of southeast Atlanta neighborhoods that represents the interests of Benteen Park, Boulevard Heights, Glenwood Park, Custer/McDonough/Guice, North Ormewood Park, Ormewood Park and Woodland Hills.
