Cobb Animal Control will present the inaugural Art, Barks and Purrs Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday on the front lawn of the Animal Control Shelter, located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta.

Vendors at the festival will feature handcrafted animal-related art, including jewelry, bird feeders and houses, housewares, animal clothing, collars and leashes, pet portraits and pottery.

In honor of Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month, Cobb Animal Control staff has also reduced its cat and kitten adoption rate to $80 through June 30.

“Our normal adoption rate is $110, but we wanted to do something special in honor of June as Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month,” said Tom Flynn, field services manager and acting facility operations manager.

“We hope this reduced rate will encourage people to come down and find a new feline addition to their families. We take in cats and kittens every day and we really want to find new home for them all.”

All cats and kittens have received vaccinations, including rabies if more than four months of age, been de-wormed and have been spayed or neutered. All felines will be combo tested.
