Police: Doctor Shopping Cases on Rise – Douglasville Patch
The Special Investigations Division of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrested Stacy McCalvin, 38, for fraudulently obtaining controlled substances, according to the Sheriff’s Facebook page.
McCalvin is accused of visiting several different doctors in the Metro Atlanta area and obtaining a wide variety of prescription narcotics. Each of the Doctors offices involved were unaware that McCalvin was seeing other medical professionals and receiving the same type of prescription narcotics. Over an extended period of time, McCalvin obtained approximately 26 different types of prescriptions in a fraudulent manner and had the prescriptions filled at local pharmacies. She was taken into Custody on May 3.
