An American hostage of al-Qaeda appears in a video posted online Sunday by the terrorist group, the Huffington Post reports.
Warren Weinstein, a 70-year-old private contractor from Rockville, Md., was abducted last August in Pakistan. In the video, Weinstein said he would be killed unless President Barack Obama agreed to al-Qaeda’s terms.
“My life is in your hands, Mr. President,” Weinstein said. “If you accept the demands, I live. If you don’t accept the demands, then I die.”
In a December video message, al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri said Weinstein would be released if the United States freed all jailed al-Qaeda and Taliban operatives and stopped airstrikes in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen.
Government officials told ABC News that the video is being analyzed.
